Maybank Group, through its corporate responsibility arm Maybank Foundation, brought home the ‘Green Apple Award for Environmental Best Practice’ and was recognised as a ‘Green World Ambassador’ at the International Green Apple for Environmental Best Practice Awards 2018 in a glittering ceremony at the Houses of Parliament, Westminster, London on 12 November 2018.
The Green Apple Award, part of the annual international campaigns to recognise, reward and promote environmental best practice around the world, provides a global stage for initiatives that really make a difference.
Maybank Foundation’s critically-acclaimed tiger conservation programme, ‘The Strengthening Tiger Conservation in the Belum-Temenggor Forest Complex’, secured these two recognitions, achieving a substantial milestone for the Group in its pursuit towards sustainable development and being part of the wind of change on a global scale. As a result of this success, Maybank Foundation has been invited to publish their winning paper in the ‘Green Book’ – the world’s only annual work of reference on environmental best practice. The paper will act as a reference for others to learn from Maybank’s experience and follow our lead to benefit themselves and the generations to come.
These recognitions too would allow Maybank to further positively impact communities in the markets where it operates, in line with its mission of ‘Humanising Financial Services’.
According to the CEO of Maybank Foundation, En Shahril Azuar Jimin, this programme is in accordance with the 15th goal of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, and this award is testimony of Maybank’s concerted efforts in its sustainability agenda.
