RISE Programme Extends Its Reach in Jakarta
Reach Independence & Sustainable Entrepreneurship (R.I.S.E) is one of Maybank Foundation’s six flagship programmes, aimed at building the capabilities of People with Disabilities (PWDs), through a structured training and mentoring programme.
The objectives of R.I.S.E include to train, coach and mentor participants in developing their entrepreneurial skills to improve their income and standard of living. To date, the programme which was kicked off in September 2014 has positively impacted over 700 R.I.S.E participants from all around Malaysia.
From 26-28 April 2016, a training session was organised for the first time in Jakarta, Indonesia at Sasana Bina Daksa Pondok Bambu. The event was attended by 41participants comprising of 32 wheelchair bound PWDs, 7 physically disabled participants and 2 marginalized participants. The participants are from Dinas Social (an NGO in Indonesia). The training session covered practical topics in running a business, creating financial goals, operational planning, budgeting and tracking as well as sales and customer analysis. The programme received positive response from the participants of the programme who showed great commitment and eagerness to learn throughout the 3-day event.
Maybank Foundation aim to contribute to the growth of the region and the programme will also be piloted across ASEAN, specifically in the Philippines and Indonesia.
